Czy warto brac dysk z NCQ ?
In any case, NCQ - at least in this drive - just does not work. Linux with its I/O elevator may help to speed things up a bit, but the disk does nothing in this area. NCQ doesn't slow things down either - it just does not work. The same's for ST3250620NS "enterprise" drives. By the way, Seagate announced Barracuda

2) From my reading about NCQ, one of the quirks of Raptors is that when NCQ is enabled, the drive disables its internal readahead. This results in significantly reduced sequential throughput. Apparently the windows drivers have some workarounds to deal with this. I'l like to be able to test to see what effect NCQ

[test shows that NCQ makes no difference whatsoever] And which elevator? Well. It looks like the results does not depend on the elevator. Originally I tried with deadline, and just re-ran the test with noop (hence the long delay with the answer) - changing linux elevator changes almost nothing in the results

NCQ has nothing to do with the interface data rate. One of the limiting factors to hard drive performance is mechanical positioning of the head. NCQ minimizes that by, first, allowing multiple commands to be queued and then reordering them so seek times are reduced. Simplified example. Say the computer wants to
